MEET JASMINE!
Hi there! I’m Jasmine Ashanti Gillenwaters!
Born and raised in Memphis, TN, I grew up surrounded by music. I loved performing whenever and wherever I could, whether it was on stage at church or at home on my living room fireplace.
At eight years old, I was cast in my first community theater production: Beauty and the Beast at Hattiloo Children's Theatre. A few years later, I returned to Hattiloo for their production of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. As my interest in theatre grew, it grew in dance as well. In eighth grade, I joined my school's competitive dance team, but severely tore my ACL a week before Nationals. I underwent reconstructive surgery and was enrolled in physical therapy for a year, but my passion for dance never faded.
It was during my freshman year of high school that I reconnected with theatre. I was cast in my department's production of Catch Me if You Can and found the perfect place to sing and act while easing back in to dance. From there, I was cast in every single show at my high school until I graduated. I continued my studies at the University of Memphis and graduated in May of 2025 with my BFA in Musical Theatre. I'm blessed to have been working professionally ever since (Maine State Music Theatre, Goodspeed Musicals, Playhouse on the Square)!
In November of 2025, I signed with Pantera/Murphy (PMA), my dream agency.
My mission as a performer is to be a walking inspiration for young artists. Theatre may not be the most reliable profession, but with determination, hard-work, and love, any dream career is possible.
When I’m not on the stage, I love baking, playing with my sweet puppy Snickers, and reading (and/or) writing dystopian fiction. Thanks for stopping by!
